I’m Adam Friend — a James Island resident fighting to protect taxpayers, fix traffic, and preserve the Lowcountry way of life.
Adam Friend is a proud Lowcountry resident, conservative, and advocate for Charleston County. Living on James Island, Adam sees firsthand the challenges facing his community from traffic congestion and rising costs to growth that is outpacing infrastructure. He describes himself not as a career politician, but as a neighbor who believes local government should be accountable, transparent, and responsive to the people it serves.
Following the 2026 Republican primary victory, Adam is the Republican candidate for Charleston County Council District 9 in the November 3 General Election, emphasizing accountability, transparency, infrastructure, responsible growth, and conservative leadership.
General Election: November 3, 2026
Early Voting: October 19–31, 2026
Adam Friend is committed to addressing the real challenges facing Charleston communities with a thoughtful and results-driven approach. He believes that strong leadership begins with listening—understanding the concerns of residents, businesses, and neighborhoods, and turning those insights into practical, effective solutions. From improving infrastructure and managing responsible growth to tackling flooding and protecting local resources, his focus is on creating long-term impact that benefits everyone.
Improving drainage systems and investing in long-term solutions
Encouraging responsible growth that preserves Charleston’s character
Ensuring every resident has a voice through transparency, open communication
Supporting small businesses and creating opportunities for sustainable economic growth.
Charleston families are working harder than ever but government keeps asking for more. The problem isn’t the people. The problem is how the money is being spent.
Before government asks for another dollar, it should prove it can responsibly manage the ones it already has.
